My special thanks go out to former classmates that stopped by the booth to say hello. It was nice to see you all working for different companies and doing more than packaging and testing. Sorry to the few of you that I missed, but I hope to see you all soon.

ISTA’s President, Ed Church has just returned from presenting ISTA® 7E and Standard 20 at the 8th Annual Cold Chain Distribution for Pharmaceuticals Global Forum in Philadelphia.

As we’ve reported in past ISTA publications this program is not only a global standard that details the minimum thermal and physical testing an insulated shipping container (ISC) should undergo to determine its proof of performance, but it is also a certification process through which the ISCs will be certified. ISTA Standard 20 includes ISTA Standard 14, the process and procedure for thermal testing laboratories to be certified for both the design and testing of ISCs, and ISTA 7E, a standard for validating ISCs as “ISTA 7E Certified”. Click here to learn more about this program.

ISTA’s 7E Global Thermal Profiles Raw Data Package (click here) and the 7E Converter (click here), an online tool allowing you to model ISC performance using data you currently have, are available now. If you would like to be notified when 7E, and Standards 20 and 14 are finalized please meredith [at] ista [dot] org?subject=Notify%20me%20when%20ISTA%207E,%2020%20and%2014%20are%20finallized.">click here and we will contact you with complete information.

ISTA has released Project 6-SAMSCLUB, Packaged-Products for Sam’s Club® Distribution System Shipment. This new project will cover 4 main types of shipments received by Sam’s Club:

• Type A: Non-Perishable, initially shipped palletized (on standard or custom pallet)
• Type B: Non-Perishable, initially shipped floor-loaded, defined as Large
• Type C: Non-Perishable, initially shipped floor-loaded, defined as Small
• Type D: Perishable

Overview and Equipment Required: Click here
Members:

Non Members:

Sam’s Club Suppliers and ISTA Certified Testing Labs are encouraged to start using 6-SAMSCLUB immediately. ISTA Members may download the full project, and test report form templates, through their ISTA Member Center account. Non-members can purchase the full project through the E-Market

ISTA® 6-SAMSCLUB is essentially an enhancement of ISTA® Project 3J, which was released earlier this year. After its initial release, several requests for changes were made, prompting ISTA Staff to work with the packaging department at Sam’s Club to create this new test project. 6-SAMSCLUB is more focused on the specific environment of the Sam’s Club store and less on generic club store distribution systems.

6-Series tests are considered "Member Performance Tests". They are test protocols created by ISTA members to meet their particular purposes and applications. The tests may be completely original, or may be modifications or variations of current ISTA Procedures or Projects or other published and accepted tests. ISTA reviews and accepts these tests, but primary responsibility rests with the originating member.
